Course - scything for home and garden

Today, when large areas are easily handled by machines and flower meadows are becoming a trend instead of sterile lawns, more and more people are rediscovering the charm of mowing grass with a traditional scythe. In silence, alone or in friendly conversation, mowing with a scythe can become an addictive activity that strengthens both body and spirit. On our course, we will teach you how to mow with ease, using a technique that is gentle on your body. We will reveal everything you need to know about the correct setting of the scythe and snath, how not to cut yourself when sharpening with a whetstone, how to mow around obstacles, how to care for your scythe so that it will serve you for many years, and you will also learn something about peening. In addition, you will have a lot of fun mowing in a group, surrounded by the beautiful nature of northern Podpoľanie.

Course objectives:

• master the adjustment of the scythe and snath and safe handling of the scythe
• learn to mow with ease, using a technique that is gentle on the body
• know how to mow in different situations (around trees, fences, ditches, etc.)
• understand the basic principles of peening

Important information:

Date: May - September | Location: Strelníky, Banská Bystrica district | Duration: 5 hours | Number of participants: 4-8 people

Equipment:

We will provide each participant with a high-quality scythe and snath from the Austrian manufacturer SCHRÖCKENFUX, which can be purchased at the end of the course. Please bring sturdy shoes, a belt, headgear and protection from the sun and rain.

Weather: Light showers are not a problem. In case of very bad weather, the course will be cancelled.
