Austrian scythe FUX-2010
The Austrian scythe Fux 2010 is a high-quality tool designed for effective and easy hand mowing of grass. This scythe has a slightly hooked blade, which allows you to cut more grass in one stroke. Made from extremely malleable steel, the scythe holds its edge well and is easy to sharpen, even for beginners. Ideal for mowing larger areas, meadows and lawns in less demanding terrain, the Fux 2010 is suitable for beginners and experienced scythers alike.
The Fux 2010 model is the result of a research and development project led by Gerhard Wagner, a consulting engineer for the Fux factory. His goal was to design a scythe blade that would ‘mow the most beautifully’. It has a slightly hooked nose, so it has the same angle of penetration into the grass as a standard scythe (e.g. the FUX model) for grass, but is more open. The result is more grass cut per stroke. This scythe is suitable for mowing larger areas, meadows and lawns where the terrain is relatively undemanding. The scythe is made of high-quality, extremely malleable steel and holds its edge well. It is easy to sharpen, even for beginners.
What size scythe should you choose?
- 60 cm - scythe suitable for confined spaces or when it is necessary to avoid obstacles such as trees or stones. Also suitable for shorter, younger or physically weaker mowers.
- 65 cm - a handy scythe, for women and younger mowers, a compromise between 60 and 70 cm.
- 70 cm - a versatile scythe for mowing grass in a wide variety of terrains, suitable for most mowers.
- 75 cm - for more experienced mowers, a compromise between 70 and 80 cm.
- 80 cm - scythe suitable for physically fit people for mowing larger areas such as meadows and large gardens in less demanding terrain.
- 90 cm - professional scythe, for experienced users and athletic mowers.
Austrian scythe Fux 2010 - basic features:
Unlike rolled products found in hardware stores, Austrian FUX scythes are hand-forged. They are lighter than conventional scythes (150 g for an 80 cm blade), the material is thinner and they are much easier to peen.

Maximum mowing efficiency: Thanks to the curved shape of the blade, you can mow more grass with every stroke.

Minimal effort: The lightweight construction and ergonomic design make mowing even larger areas easy.
Recommendation:
This scythe is ideal for those looking for a lightweight, efficient and versatile scythe for mowing various areas. Thanks to its construction and features, it is suitable for both beginners and experienced mowers. If you plan to have several scythes, we recommend combining this scythe with a shorter scythe (e.g. Hartsthal 65 cm) for optimal mowing in different terrains.
Additional services
Although the scythes leave the factory with a sticker saying mähfertig, i.e. ready for mowing, this is not entirely true. The scythes are machine-peened and coated with a protective varnish. The Czech term sekání, meaning chopping, is more appropriate for working with this type of scythe.
To ensure that you enjoy mowing and do not exert yourself unnecessarily, it is necessary to remove 0.5–1 cm of the protective coating along the entire cutting edge on both sides and then hand-peen the scythe.
If you don't want to or don't know how to do this, leave it to us. We will deliver the scythe to you so that you can immediately mow your lawn, garden or meadow.

The Austrian company SCHRÖCKENFUX, founded in 1540, has been manufacturing and exporting high-quality scythes, also known as "Austrian scythes", all over the world for more than 475 years.
Unlike most scythes on the market, which are machine-rolled, SCHRÖCKENFUX scythes are hand-peened from the highest quality steel. Thanks to this precise blacksmithing, the scythes are lightweight, sturdy and stay sharp for a long time. The Austrian FUX scythe is one of the best options for hand mowing lawns or meadows.
