How to recognise a good scythe?
A good scythe can be recognised by the fact that it remains sharp for a long time during mowing and can be easily and well peened. You will only find out whether it meets these parameters after you have paid for the scythe.

To help you avoid wasting money, here are a few tips on what to look for in a quality scythe for mowing grass:
- It is slightly rounded, similar to the hull of a boat, which gives the scythe stability and additional strength.
- The tip rises slightly from the ground.
- The blade tapers slightly from the rib to the cutting edge.
- The blade of the scythe is evenly machined, without unevenness or differences in thickness.
- The cutting edge is no thicker than 0.5 mm along its entire length.
- A 60 cm scythe weighs no more than 500 g.
