Hammers and anvils
Peening is crucial for a perfect cutting edge and effortless mowing. There are two basic methods: peening jig – especially suitable for beginners, and traditional forging with a hammer and anvil. In traditional peening, you can use either a narrow hammer and a wide anvil (less commonly used and more demanding) or the wide side of a hammer on a narrow anvil – the method we prefer.
Our range includes tools for all these methods. We particularly recommend the hammer and peening anvil PICARD, which are characterised by their ideal size, shape and high-quality steel. For more demanding users, we also offer a peening anvil from Fux with an adjustable table and stops for precise peening.
How to choose the right peening tools?
Each peening method has its pros and cons, but if you master it, you can achieve great results. The peening jig is ideal for people with less experience who are not yet skilled with their hands. For those who are more skilled with their hands, we recommend traditional forging using a peening anvil and hammer. With a little practice, anyone can master this technique and achieve exceptional results.
When choosing tools, keep in mind that more robust tools, such as hammers and peening anvils from PICARD, offer stability and a larger working area. On the other hand, smaller tools such as hammers and peening anvils from ZBIROVIA are more practical if you need to take them with you into the field. Our range also includes field peening anvils from the Italian manufacturer Rinaldi, which are ideal for use in the countryside and allow high-quality peening even outside the workshop.
